Do I need to stay on San Juan Island?

The short answer is YES you need to stay on San Juan Island! Ferries stop running in the evening so it would be very hectic getting to the ferry terminal on time - plus you would miss most of the festivities!

Why can't I see any availability on Roche Harbor's reservation website?

Please take a look at our lodging page for complete information. Due to technical issues on Roche Harbor's website you will need to contact Roche Harbor to see availability and reserve a room. The website shows no available rooms during our wedding weekend but this is incorrect! We will email everyone who RSVPs 'yes' once the website is fixed.

When should I plan to arrive in Seattle?

We recommend you fly into SEA-TAC on May 23rd in the evening so you can stay the night in Seattle. Then you can head to catch the ferry in Anacortes in the morning of May 24th. Alternatively, you can fly early on May 24th and drive directly to the Anacortes ferry terminal, so that you arrive on time for the welcome dinner. We do not recommend flying in on May 25th in case flight or ferry delays get in the way of you making it to the wedding on time!

Can I stay longer than 2 nights at Roche Harbor Resort?

Yes, of course! San Juan Island is a fantastic place to have a vacation! The staff at Roche Harbor are happy to help extend your reservation beyond the 2-night room block. Feel free to call the reservations team at (360) 378-9820 and make sure to reference our Room Block Code: 282123 or mention the Hanson wedding on 5/25/25.

What is the dress code?

The dress code is dressy casual. Before you go searching for what that means we will let you know what we would like 'dressy casual' to look like! Think of dresses, a dressy skirt + top, pantsuit, or a dress shirt + pants (ties and sport coats are optional). Let your style shine through! You are more than welcome to dress casually for the welcome dinner (shorts are allowed if you are willing to risk the PNW spring weather).

What will the weather be like on San Juan Island in May?

San Juan Island receives twice as much sun and half as much rain as Seattle, but it is still late spring in the PNW... so come prepared! We recommend packing a raincoat or umbrella and layers for possible unexpected temperature changes throughout the day. Temperatures average around 60-63F in late May.
